Live fire training conducted in Arbor Vitae

July 19, 2019 by Kayla Houp

Firefighters from the Woodruff, Arbor Vitae, Minocqua, Boulder Junction and Hazelhurst fire departments had an opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in fire control and extinguishments at a live fire training conducted July 13.

“In the practice burn, we worked on different types of fire control techniques and extinguishment operations to get firefighters to brush up on their skills,” Arbor Vitae fire chief Mike Van Meter said. “We also took the opportunity to learn some new tactics.”

Van Meter wanted to thank the departments that came and trained with them as well as the property owner, Knute Farness, for donating the property for training purposes.
