Land O’ Lakes Arts (LOLA) is seeking performing musicians interested in participating in the worldwide celebration of music on Make Music Day. Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.
Different from a typical music festival, musicians of every kind — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — are sought to play in various outdoor locations in Land O’ Lakes on Sunday, June 21, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visit makemusicday.org for more information on the world celebration.
“On June 21, across the globe, musicians of all kinds will make music,” LOLA program director Wendy Powalisz said. “People will experience the joy that music gives, becoming a united force that connects us in a positive way. We hope that Land O’ Lakes, the Northwoods, and Wisconsin will vibrate with music making that adds to the world mix of good feelings.”
This will be LOLA’s third year participating, and after last year’s growth with 17 musical performances/activities, LOLA is looking to continue growing this event. All Make Music Day performances will be free and open to the public. Visit lolaartswi.com for more information on the event.
LOLA is also growing their Porch Songs Summer Music Series. Free live music will be held on the LOLA porch from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Thursday starting June 25, until Aug. 27. If interested in performing, visit the Music Opportunities page on the LOLA website for information on music enquiries.
