This summer Land O’ Lakes Arts (LOLA) welcomes returning teaching art intern Maddie Crum, and theater intern Haley Stevens.
Crum, a senior majoring in art education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, will once again be LOLA’s teaching art intern for summer 2020.
As LOLA adapts their Art of Wellness summer programing, Crum may be teaching classes virtually, outdoors, or limited in numbers, all while taking safe precautions for herself and students. Classes are fit for ages 5-105 and will include nature crafts, a Bike N’ Brush paint day, and much more.
Check the LOLA website for class listings and be sure to watch LOLA’s Facebook page for a video from Crum on how excited she is to return to teach this summer. www.facebook.com/LandOLakesArtsLOLA/
LOLA also welcomes Stevens to the Sandra Hardy Brown Teaching Internship Program for theatre and dance in July. Stevens is finishing her senior year at Lawrence University, majoring in English, theatre arts with a minor in creative writing. She will be teaching youth ages 7-16 over a four-week period as part of the Summer Theater Program. She will guide students in devised theater, sometimes called collaborative creation, to create an original piece while learning skills in play-writing, character development, acting technique, and modern dance choreography.
“Ensemble work allows for the students to collaborate on a creative project all on their own, as well as have their own time in the spotlight,” Stevens said. “There is no ‘i’ in ensemble.”
Watch for more details about this program as LOLA adapts to changing protocols. LOLA is committed to safe practices for students and teachers amid on-going COVID-19 issues.
