LUHS Board public information meeting on Feb. 3
January 31, 2020
Six public information meetings have been scheduled leading up to the Lakeland Union High School district’s referendum Feb. 18. The second meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3 at the Lac du Flambeau Public School.
The LUHS Board of Education approved a resolution in October authorizing the district to head to a referendum election on the question of allowing the district to exceed its revenue limit by $3.45 million in a recurring operational referendum.
The decision to pursue a recurring operational referendum, over a recurring or one-time referendum stemmed from a need determined by the board’s ad hoc referendum to sustain the district’s operation and leave the district in a strong financial position over the next five years to prevent the district from having to return to referendum in the near future.
While the district’s current mill rate is $1.82, it is anticipated the mill rate will increase to $2.33 should the referendum pass.
