Show online starting July 16
The Manito Art League’s 2020 Art Show will take place online, opening on July 16. The deadline for entry on June 30 is fast approaching. This online art show provides all the benefits of the in-person show, normally held each summer at the Manitowish Waters Community Center, with even broader exposure anticipated for the online show.
The exhibit will run as an “Art Show” from July 16 through July 31. On Aug. 1, it will become a rotating “Art Gallery.” All Manito Art League member entries can remain in the Art Gallery through Dec. 31. Members will have the privilege of updating their artwork by replacing any entry with a new one as desired after Aug. 1. This gives members the ongoing opportunity to show more of their artwork throughout the year, and keeps the exhibit fresh for returning visitors. Any exhibitor is welcome to join the Manito Art League by paying dues of $25 for a single membership or $35 for family membership.
One of the highlights of the Art Show is the silent auction. Anyone can donate a piece of artwork to the silent auction. Besides providing more exposure for the artist, it helps raise money to support the Art League’s Scholarship Fund and, thus, support the arts in the north woods.
Need help photographing art?
From 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, artists who need help with their entry can bring their artwork to the Manitowish Waters Community Center, with the $30 entry fee. Here it will be photographed, and artists will get help submitting their online entry forms.
For the $30 entry fee, members may submit up to three pieces, non-members may submit up to two pieces of art. Judging and $1,350 in prizes will be awarded. Other features include Scholarship Awards, People’s Choice Award voting, Door Prize drawing, and special recognition of Patrons for their support of the arts.
The Manito Art League is an organization dedicated to the development and appreciation of the arts. With over 80 members, the Manito Art League provides regular workshops and events open to the public, and features a fine-art show every July, celebrating “Great Art in Our Great Northwoods.
