Manito Art Show in Manitowish Waters this weekend
July 19, 2019
The Manito Art League is hosting its 54th annual Manito Art Show at the Community Center in Manitowish Waters from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19 and 20, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 21.
The Manito Art League has been in existence since 1965 and organized its first art show in mid-1970s, making this year the 54th annual show. Both members and non-members participate in this event, and this year’s entry numbers have surpassed previous years with 210 pieces of art representing over 85 artists. Pieces include ceramic sculptures to encaustic paintings and everything in between.
The artwork will be displayed in a gallery fashion at the Manitowish Waters Community Center. The event is free to attend and open to the public. All displayed artwork is for sale with proceeds going directly to the artist.
The Manito Art League’s activities, including the annual show, are supported by many valuable patrons. In addition to the show, patrons donate money for scholarships for local aspiring artists and performers in the arts to take part in education events, and these awards are made annually as part of the show. This year, 15 scholarships will be given. In its over 50-year history, the Manito Art League and its patrons have awarded over $200,000 in scholarship money.
