There will be a Community Blood Bank drive from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at the Manitowish Waters Community Center. Manitowish Waters Lioness will be sponsoring the blood drive.
The entire donation process is usually completed in under an hour, and the actual donation process takes less than 15 minutes. Blood donors must be 17 years old (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and bring a photo ID. Donors are encouraged to eat a regular meal and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating.
All donors will be eligible to win one of the following three Wisconsin Outdoor Adventures: a pontoon or cottage rental, person biplane experience, or chartered fishing excursion or outdoor adventure.
There is no substitute for human blood, and over 4 million Americans receive blood transfusions each year. Those one medication may still be able to give blood.
Register ahead of time to give the Community Blood Bank an idea of how many personnel will be needed at this site, and also to reduce the wait upon arrival. Call Nancy Hajt at 952-334-3190 or 715-543-2149 to register. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Call the Community Blood Center at 800-280-4102 with any questions regarding medications that might affect eligibility to give blood.
