Marshfield Clinic general surgeon Dr. Gavin Ambrosi expands practice to Park Falls

November 01, 2019

Dr. Gavin Ambrosi joins Marshfield Clinic Park Falls Center’s general surgery department in early November. He currently provides surgical services at the Minocqua Center.

“I was attracted to Marshfield Clinic’s mission of enriching lives through accessible, affordable compassionate health care,” Ambrosi said. “Marshfield Clinic has a stellar reputation and shares my dedication to quality rural health care. Although Park Falls is a small town, the Clinic and Flambeau Hospital have the facilities to provide advanced, excellent health care for patients in a large geographic area.”

Ambrosi completed his bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit, and his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. He then completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit.

Ambrosi’s professional interests encompass a full range of general surgery procedures including laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He enjoys the breadth of general surgery allowing him to take care of patients with both acute and chronic surgical issues throughout their lives.

“I believe quality communication is essential among the health care team,” Ambrosi said. “I work with patients and the entire health care team to provide the best care and outcomes for our patients. Communication and understanding are key to the shared decision making process. The patient always comes first. I want to ensure my patients understand the treatment process and know that together we are making the best decision for their treatment.”

In his free time he values spending time with his wife and family and all outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, swimming, snowshoeing, and snowboarding.
