Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center welcomes dermatology physician assistant
October 04, 2019
Dermatology physician assistant Calistie Kumbier will join Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center on Oct. 7.
“We are happy that Calistie Kumbier will be providing dermatology services in Minocqua,” Marshfield Clinic medical sub-specialties manager Karen Swartz said. “She is a motivated and self-directed individual with strong leadership and team-building skills. Dermatology is a service that has been in high demand in our area.”
Kumbier earned her bachelor’s in biology from Lawrence University in Appleton in 2006. She received her degree in 2010 in physician assistant studies through the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison. She is a board certified physician assistant.
During her physician assistant studies, she completed a medical rotation in the Northwoods and fell in love with the area. Kumbier has practiced medicine in the Minocqua area since 2010 and realized there was a need for dermatology services locally.
“Having always had an interest in skin conditions, I decided to concentrate on dermatology as my primary clinical practice in 2018, training alongside the residency program at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield,” Kumbier said. “I have lived in the Minocqua area since 2010 and I look forward to bringing my expertise in dermatology to care for the local community.”
Kumbier provides care to patients with a wide range of skin conditions, including acne, skin cancer, warts and psoriasis.
“I believe it is important for patients to make informed decisions about their care,” she said. “I enjoy working with patients, as a team, to decide on a care plan that works best for them.”
“The Northwoods is a beautiful area to work, live, and raise a family. I have enjoyed working in this close-knit community, forming relationships with my patients and those I have come to know in the area. Over the years, I have developed relationships with many of the medical providers in the area, and I am honored to work in an area with such quality medical care.”
Kumbier is married with one daughter and two bulldogs. When she is not caring for patients, she enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
