Menasha man charged with sexual assault of a child in LdF

December 13, 2019 by Abigail Bostwick

An out-of-town man was arrested and now charged with sexual assault of a child following an investigation by the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police at Lake of the Torches casino recently.

Police were called Nov. 30 shortly after 5:30 a.m. to the casino hotel where a security officer there advised them Facundo Flores-Rosas, 53, Menasha, had been heard arguing with his wife following an allegation he’d been “feeling on his step granddaughter,” according to court reports.

Security stopped Flores-Rosas when he attempted to leave — he was waiting in his vehicle when police arrived. Lac du Flambeau officers first spoke with the victim’s family — who noted the child and another child were sleeping in the same bed as their grandfather. The female child woke up her grandmother and advised her Flores-Rosas had touched her and tried to give her $20, the criminal complaint states.

The victim, under the age of 13, was noted to have been crying and indicated to police she’d been touched in her pubic area over the clothing, police reports indicate. Family relayed they suspected similar incidents may have happened earlier involving the child and Flores-Rosas, which was supported by physical evidence seen on the child, police reports state.

Upon first contact with Flores-Rosas, officers noted the smell of marijuana emitting from his vehicle. Flores-Rosas denied anything happening inside the hotel room.

Flores-Rosas is charged with felony first degree sexual assault of a child/under the age of 13 and possession of THC, a misdemeanor. He has a preliminary hearing Dec. 16. He is being held on a $10,000 cash bond at Vilas County Jail. He may not have contact with the victim or other minors. Flores-Rosas has no prior criminal history in Wisconsin.
