Run to raise funds for local pantry, Guatemala Project

The 2nd annual Minocqua Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Everyone is invited to trot through the streets and trails of Minocqua Thursday morning before sitting down to their big Thanksgiving feast.
The Evangelical Free Church of Minocqua is sponsoring this fundraiser, with the proceeds to be split between the Lakeland Pantry and Guatemala Leadership Training Facility for Pastors.
The 5K begins in Minocqua's Torpy Park and takes racers over the old railroad trestle and along the Bearskin trail to the west shore of Lake Minocqua on the back roads, past the Little Brown Jug and south side of Lakeland Union High School. The race finishes in front of the Minocqua Brewery.
The cost per individual is $25 for pre-registration $30 for day-of-event registration. A 5K Family (up to five participants) can pre-register for $80; $90 on race day.
Check in will start Wednesday evening at Torpy Park in the lower concession area from 5 to 7 p.m. On Thursday morning, check in will be available starting at 7 a.m. in the Torpy Park Pavilion. The run begins at 9 a.m. sharp.
The top male and female finishers will receive a custom Thanksgiving turkey basket including a full sized turkey. The top three male and female finishers in the following age groups will take home 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Turkey Trot medals: 15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. New this year will be a Thanksgiving themed costume contest. The winner will take home a medal for Best Costume.
