‘Native American Experience in Waaswaaganing’ class begins July 18

The Waaswaaganing Indian Bowl Living Art and Culture Center is hosting a class schedule for the month of July titled “Native American Experience in Waaswaaganing (Lac du Flambeau).” 

The first class is from 10 to 11 a.m. on July 18 at the George W. Brown, Jr. Ojibwe Museum on Peace Pipe Road. Learn about history and view the museum with director Teresa Mitchell. 

From 10 to 11:30 a.m. on July 23, at the Boys Boarding School, learn about boarding schools with Tribal historic preservation officer Melinda Young.

On July 25, at the Ben Guthrie Public Library, join Melissa Doud Jackson and Brian Jackson from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for a presentation on pow wow dance, music and regalia.

For the final class attend a pow wow at the Waaswaaganing Indian Bowl 6:30 to 7 p.m. on July 30. This date is flexible.
