New report shows continued population loss in rural Wisconsin

Oneida County among top rural counties nationally in economic diversity

Wisconsin is suffering rural population lost just like most of America, but a new report by the demographic firm Forward Analytics shows the principal reasons for that decline to be somewhat different from other places.

Put bluntly, while most of the nation’s rural decline is due to a net outmigration to more urban areas, in Wisconsin people are not moving out so much as they are dying off.
