Northwoods Youth Deer Hunting Challenge banquet tomorrow at LUHS

December 31, 2019 by Jacob Friede

The annual banquet for the Northwoods Youth Deer Hunting Challenge (NYDHC) has been set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020 in the commons area of the Lakeland Union High School.

All hunters who entered and filled out the appropriate entry form are invited to attend and are eligible for prizes. Regardless if they harvested a deer or not, every NYDHC hunter will walk away from the banquet with something.

The NYDHC is open to youth hunters age 10-17 who live in Oneida, Vilas, or Iron County and who hunt in Oneida, Vilas, Iron, Price, or Forest counties.

The NYDHC promotes youth hunters to get out in the wild and carry on the rich tradition of deer hunting in the Northwoods and the banquet is a celebration of their hunt.

In addition to a feast served by the Minocqua Lions Club, there will be awards and a prize give away that will feature over 40 firearms.

All youth hunters will receive a prize just for participating and attending.

There will also be an archery contest hosted by Wade Wetland, with prizes for the top archers, as well as information booths offering a variety of hunting based knowledge.

Youth hunters should bring a parent or guardian as their presence is necessary to receive a firearm.
