Oneida County Tourism Council launches Taste of Oneida County Restaurant Week

Nov. 4-10 event aims to attract diners and visitors during shoulder season

November 01, 2019

The Oneida County Tourism Council (OCTC) is launching the first-ever Taste of Oneida County Restaurant Week, happening Nov. 4-10.

The county-wide event is meant to draw attention to the area’s plentiful food offerings — from traditional Northwoods fare to ethnic restaurants and craft breweries.

“We want people to realize the wide variety of options Oneida County has to offer,” said Krystal Westfahl, president of the Oneida County Tourism Council (OCTC) and executive director of the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our goal is to have Oneida County be the go-to destination for foodies in the Northwoods.”

More than a dozen restaurants are taking part in the inaugural Taste of Oneida County Restaurant Week, each having crafted unique menus and deals just for the occasion. Diners can visit https://oneidacountywi.com/taste-of-oneida-county/# to see what each establishment is offering, along with a map that plots their location in the county, hours and contact info.

But the Taste of Oneida County isn’t just about eating great food; it’s about the food experience. That’s why several businesses across the county are hosting food-related events in addition to their menu deals. Folks who love a good Old Fashioned or Bloody Mary should check out the Cocktail Tour of Tomahawk, and style lovers won’t want to miss the Fall Fashion Wine Up happening in Rhinelander, including a fashion show, drinks and appetizers and private shopping. Other events can be found on the Taste of Oneida County website.

The Taste of Oneida County is the result of a generous joint-effort marketing grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and is meant to help draw business to the county during a time that traditionally sees fewer visitors.

“It’s the time of year when the fall color is done and we’re waiting for snowmobile season,” Westfahl said. “But, with the temps dropping and people spending more time indoors, it’s a perfect time to encourage them to settle in for a cozy meal. We’re excited to see how the first year goes.”

Visitors can find more information about the Taste of Oneida County Restaurant Week at the newly redesigned onenorthwoods.com and on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube.
