‘Osprey Research in Wisconsin’ presentation on Oct. 24 in Boulder Junction

Former Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist Bruce Bacon will be the next guest of the Boulder Junction Public Library’s Neighbor to Neighbor Program Series at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park St. Bacon will give a presentation on “Osprey Research in Wisconsin.”

Bacon worked for over 34 years with the Wisconsin DNR in Wildlife Management and Wildlife Research. He will discuss the biology of osprey, population status, history of management in Wisconsin and the specifics of the Iron County osprey project. Factors, both historic and current, that affect osprey populations along with insights from a 3-year study where cameras were positioned on osprey nests offering a unique perspective on this raptor.

This presentation is part of the Friends of the Boulder Junction Public Library’s free monthly Neighbor to Neighbor program series. Note the program is at 2:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. All members of the public are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 715-385-2050.
