Presque Isle to stay with separate clerk and treasurer

Walters: ‘I’ve sort of backed off my thinking about this’

The town of Presque Isle will stay with separate positions of town clerk and town treasurer at least for the forseeable future. 

A possible switch to a town clerk/treasurer position was briefly discussed at the town’s annual meeting on June 4. 

Lorine Walters, first elected as town treasurer in 1983 and town clerk since 1991, brought the matter up at the town’s June 4 annual meeting, those present “this would be a good opportunity for you to talk about it and think about it.”
