Anyone interested in learning more about roundabout intersections are invited to attend a free presentation at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Oneida County in Rhinelander. The presentation will be led by Tony Kemnitz, traffic safety engineer for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).
The presentation will provide background on the history of roundabouts, discuss how WisDOT evaluates intersections for selection of a roundabout as an appropriate safety improvement as well as offer driving tips on how to effectively navigate roundabouts.
“This event is being offered because Rhinelander’s first roundabout is close to final completion at the intersection of Hwys. 8 and 47,” ADRC director Dianne Jacobson said. “Drivers will also encounter more of these intersections throughout Wisconsin including both single and multiple lanes. We encourage older adult drivers to attend this informative event,” added Jacobson.
The ADRC is at 100 W Keenan Street in Rhinelander (across the parking lot from Trig’s). Advanced registration is not required. For more information call the ADRC of Oneida County at 715-369-6170 or toll-free at 800-379-7499.
