The Lakeland Rotary’s 16th annual Rump Roast Run 2019 will be held the morning of the annual Beef-A-Rama on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Minocqua.
Both the 5K and 10K courses start and finish at Lakeland Union High School this year. The course hugs the shore of Lake Minocqua as participants head to the north. Both courses give way to wooded lanes and eventually lead to the Bearskin Trail. There, the 5K course turns left and brings runners and walkers over the old trestle before heading back towards the high school. The 10K course turn right and heads down the Bearskin Trail before turning back to the trestle and then back toward the high school.
A children’s 1-mile race will round out the events and an awards ceremony will cap off the morning. Cow bells for the winners and 16-18 pound beef roasts will go to the top male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K.
Registration and Packet Pick-up will be Friday night from 5 until 8 p.m. at the American Legion downtown Minocqua. Packet pick-up on Saturday morning will be at the high school from 7 to 8:45 a.m.
The Calf Mile kids race is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. and will be on the LUHS track. 5K and 10K races start at 9 a.m. with a gun start.
Register online without incurring additional online fee charges until midnight Wednesday, Sept 25.
After the race, stay and enjoy Beef-A-Rama, one of Wisconsin’s wackier food festivals. After the race, take your race bib to the Rotary Beer Garden and receive a free beverage.
