Rump Roast Run on Sept. 28
September 27, 2019
The Lakeland Rotary’s 16th annual Rump Roast Run 2019 is held the morning of the annual Beef-A-Rama on Saturday, Sept. 28th, in Minocqua.
Both the 5K and 10K courses start and finish at Lakeland Union High School this year. The course hugs the shore of Lake Minocqua as participants head to the north. Both courses give way to wooded lanes and lead eventually to the Bearskin Trail. There, the 5K course turns left and brings runners and walkers over the old trestle before heading back towards the high school. 10K runners turn right and head down the Bearskin Trail before turning back to the trestle before heading back towards the high school.
A children’s 1-mile race rounds out the events and an awards ceremony caps off the morning with cow bells for the winners and a 16-18 pound beef roasts for the top male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K.
Registration and Packet Pick-up is Friday night from 5 until 8 p.m. at the American Legion downtown Minocqua. Packet pick-up on Saturday morning is at the high school from 7 to 8:45 a.m.
Calf Mile kids race begins at 8:15 a.m. and will be ran on the LUHS track. 5K and 10K races starts at 9 a.m. with a gun start.
After the race, stay and enjoy Beef-A-Rama, one of Wisconsin’s wackier food festivals. Take your race bib to the Rotary Beer Garden and receive a free beverage after the race.
