Sack Lake Old Growth Forest Hike

October 11, 2019

Join Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) staff and Sack Lake Conservation easement donors Rich Bostwick and Barbara Arms from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at their property (directions given upon registration) for an old growth forest hike.

“Hiking amongst fall color is a treat in itself, but we will also get to see some old growth Hemlock trees, too,” NWLT outreach coordinator Troy Walters said. “Old growth forests are increasingly difficult to find, making it even more special to take a walk back in time.”

Participants will be walking around four miles over uneven terrain. Discuss what an old growth forest is, forest succession, and why they are important. Participants should bring sturdy hiking shoes, water, raingear, etc. RSVP by calling the NWLT office at 715-479-2490 or email: [email protected] by Wednesday, Oct 9. Space is limited.

The Northwoods Land Trust is a non-profit organization that works with private landowners who wish to voluntarily conserve their properties. Based in Eagle River, NWLT serves Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Iron, Price and northern Langlade counties.
