One person was taken to Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff following a two-car accident at the intersection of State Highway 47 and Wolf and Killdeer roads Tuesday morning. According to the accident report from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Benjamin Bokun, 21, Schererville, Ind., was northbound on Hwy. 47 in a 2015 Kia Sportage when he began traveling in the southbound lane near the intersection. A second vehicle, a southbound 1992 Honda Accord sedan driven by Loren Lee Lavin, 61, Minocqua, swerved into the northbound lane to avoid a head-on collison with Bokun’s vehicle, which then side-swiped the Lavin vehicle. The Honda spun 180 degrees before stopping in the northbound lane of Hwy. 47. Bokun’s Kia continued in the southbound lane and ended up sideways in a ditch. Bokun received citations for inattentive driving and operating a motor vehicle left of the center line. Lavin, with non-life threatening injuries, was treated and released from Howard Young.
