Snowy owls virtual learning begins June 23

June 19, 2020

The Boulder Junction Public Library will be hosting a virtual learning program about snowy owls with North Lakeland Discovery Center’s Annie McDonnell from June 23 through July 7.

Snowy owls are captivating birds and occasional visitors to the Northwoods. Join McDonnell for an engaging discussion on the adaptations and traits that make these birds a unique species and some of the most recent studies tracking their phenomenal travels.

McDonnell is the naturalist and volunteer coordinator at North Lakeland Discovery Center. With a degree in wildlife ecology, she spent a number of years researching grassland songbirds, waterfowl, and owls throughout Montana, Idaho, and North Dakota, prior to returning to the Midwest. She has been with the Discovery Center for four years and enjoys working with the Northwoods communities.

This program is open to everyone. Register by emailing [email protected] After registration, a link will be sent to view online content for the program anytime between June 23 and July 7.

Questions after watching the video can be submitted to the same library email above and the Discovery Center will do a follow up video answering those questions.

For more information, call the library at 715-385-2050.
