Land O’ Lakes Arts (LOLA) is currently seeking two summer teaching interns for dance and theater. Both positions are designed for college students majoring in the arts who desire teaching experience within an arts environment.
The Summer Dance Internship Program for LOLA will focus on working with children ages three through 16, in a variety of classes/activities/rehearsals introducing students to dance, which build up to a live short performance at the end of the four-week program.
“Working for LOLA was a wonderful experience. I loved how eager the students were to learn, they would always come running into class excited and ready,” last year’s dance intern, Jennifer French said. “At LOLA you are able to use your creativity and knowledge of dance to create a program that works for both you and the students. Everyone that works at LOLA are extremely supportive of you and what you would like to achieve, in dance classes and in your future.”
The summer theatre intern will teach theatre activities to children in a four-week program. Classes will end with a public performance on the final day. The intern will focus on working with children ages seven through 16, in a variety of classes/activities/rehearsals that introduce students to acting, singing, or dance.
Both interns will receive free housing in Land O’ Lakes, a weekly stipend, hands-on classroom teaching experience, development of leadership and planning skills, and freedom to design their respective programs. LOLA will provide support and guidance as needed, but the intern will be the creative director of their program.
Dates of the internships are negotiable, but must take place between mid-June and mid-August. Applications must be submitted to LOLA by March 15.
