The Lakeland Area Photographic Club hosts ‘Vagabonding’ presentation on July 17

July 16, 2019

The Lakeland Area Photographic Club will host “Vagabonding, December 2018 to May 2019” from 6 to 7 p.m. on July 17 at the Minocqua Public Library.

This slide presentation recounts highlights of Daryl Carrington and Mary Myers’ five month trip through regions of North Africa, Europe, and the UK. Their travel experience of people, places, friends and family comes to life through stories and their artistic hobbies.

Myers kept a sketch journal and painted watercolor studies, and Carrington practiced his photography.

Camping in the Sahara Desert, ice-caving in Iceland, hiking the Sierra Nevada of Spain, touring the ruins of Ephesus, and sailing the Nile were some experiences they recorded through photography and painting.

Pack light, travel slow, experience fully, repeat was the motto. The presentation will also discuss the logistics of packing clothing and gear, transportation, and approaches to photography during an extended trip. The public is welcome to attend.
