Theatre North’s ‘The Skin of our Teeth’ opens Nov. 1

October 29, 2019

Theatre North in Ironwood, Mich., presents “Skin of our Teeth,” a Thornton Wilder Pulitzer Prize epic comedy directed by Helen Fashbaugh, at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2 and 8, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and 10. The cast features 17 talented, local actors.

“The Skin of Our Teeth” is an energetic “cosmic allegory” — a sometimes cartoonish, sometimes dark, and genuinely “quirky” comedy. It is a testimony to human endurance and tenaciousness. In three acts it follows the Antrobus family through an ice age, a flood, a devastating war, hanging in there by “the skin of its teeth.”

It’s a play within a play. The play struggles to survive as well, as it parallels the human adventure it relates. It’s fun, evocative, and endearing, yet prophetic, and as relevant today as it was when Wilder wrote it.

Tickets are available now at Chelsi’s Corner, The Leather and Gift Shop, and at the Theatre North Box Office an hour before performance times for $10. For more information, visit www.theatrenorth.info or search Theatre North on Facebook.
