Thirsty for Wildlife on Squirrel Lake raises money for Northwoods Wildlife Center

July 10, 2020

A couple of young entrepreneurs held their own unique fundraiser for the Northwoods Wildlife Center on July 4. Myles Koele and Levi Eslinger, wanting to bring attention to the needs of NWC, navigated by paddleboat around Squirrel Lake, selling lemonade, NWC Squirrel shirts and handing out NWC newsletters. Catherine Koele, Myles’ mother, said the boys came up with the “Thirsty for Wildlife” lemonade stand on water on their own, and with assistance from their sisters, were able to raise $733 for the Wildlife Center.

The Northwoods Wildlife Center will reopen for outside only tours on July 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tours will be by reservation only, so call 715-356-7400 to reserve. There are still some Squirrel shirts available, as well as other NWC shirts that can be purchased after the tours.
