‘Travelogue: Ice Castles and Penguins’ at Presque Isle Library on Sept. 25

“Travelogue: Ice Castles and Penguins: A Journey to Antarctica and South Georgia Island with Rob and Sally Pierce” will be presented from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Presque Isle Community Library.
Join Rob and Sally Pierce as they share their experience traveling to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and other islands in the Southern Ocean. Learn what it is like to visit this part of the world as they describe walking among thousands of penguins, hiking in the footsteps of Ernest Shackleton and sailing aboard a Russian ship among pods of fin whales. In addition to sharing numerous photographs of the region’s landscape and wildlife, Rob and Sally will talk about the practical aspects of undertaking a trip to the Antarctic, including travel strategies and options, costs and photography tips.
Rob Pierce is a retired professor of geography from the State University of New York, as well as a professional photographer whose images have appeared in John Wiley publications.
Sally Pierce is a retired professor of French linguistics and director of the Language Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
