Two women lost on a Minocqua area canoe ride found and safe

Racine residents started on the Tomahawk River Saturday night

Two people from Racine who went for a canoe ride on the Tomahawk River near dusk Saturday and ended up lost were found safely a few hours later near a cabin on Camp Nine Road. 

Minocqua assistant fire chief Mark Vapnar said he got the call two women were missing at around 9:25 p.m.

“Two female canoers, sisters if I’m not mistaken, 19 and 25 years old, decided to go for a canoe paddle down the Tomahawk River from a house on Mercer Lake Road,” he told The Lakeland Times ...
