Volunteer through the AARP Tax-Aide Tax Counseling Program

October 18, 2019

Provide a valuable service by volunteering to be part of the AARP Tax-Aide Tax Counseling Program.

Tax-Aide is a free community service program offered by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) working in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR). Hundreds of people in the Lakeland area are helped by this service each year.

As a volunteer, partake in a three-day training session in January sponsored by the IRS and the Wis. DOR. Serve as a counselor and work with computers to assist clients in preparing and electronically filing Federal and State Income Tax returns, along with Homestead Credit forms if applicable. Counselors usually devote one day per week from February to mid-April preparing tax returns at the Minocqua Public Library. Scheduling is flexible and accommodations can be made to fit individual needs. The work is very rewarding and truly appreciated those helped with their tax issues.

If interested in learning more about this opportunity to serve the community, contact Chuck Berigan at 715-356-7009.
