Winchester approves chassis purchase for new fire department tanker truck

While it could be a year before the town actually sees the fire department’s new tanker truck, the Winchester Town Board approved Monday, July 6, the purchase of a $112,134 chassis for the tanker.

“We have a bid from Peterbilt for the chassis for $112,134,” town supervisor Sulo Wainio said. “Once the chassis is built, it’ll be sent to the body builders.”

According to Wainio, the truck is a “2021 Peterbilt 348 fire engine pumper.”

“It’s a tanker pumper,” Wainio clarified.<...
