WPS work

October 25, 2019

Two workers and a Wisconsin Public Service boom truck were on the west side of the U.S. Highway 51 bridge over Lake Minocqua on Tuesday, involved in a project WPS spokesman Matt Cullen said is part of the company’s focus “to provide safe and reliable service to our customers.” The project, to upgrade part of WPS’s natural gas system, extends from East Park Avenue to Country Club Road and will include installation of new gas main under Lake Minocqua itself. “What it involves is us replacing about a quarter mile of our natural gas main with new natural gas main,” Cullen said. “The existing main is four inches in diameter and the new main is eight inches in diameter.” He said the main portion of the project is expected to be completed by mid-November and one of the southbound lanes on Hwy. 51 between Park Avenue and Country Club Road will remain closed at least until then.
