Boater’s safety course on July 23 and 24

July 17, 2020

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring a Wisconsin DNR certified boater’s safety course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24.

The course will be held at the Oneida County Law Enforcement Center, 2000 East Winnebago Street, Rhinelander.

Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1989 who is at least 12 years old must have boater’s safety to legally operate a motorized boat or personal watercraft (PWC) on Wisconsin waters.

Students are now required to obtain a DNR customer ID number for any recreational safety class they attend. Contact the DNR at 1-888-936-7463 to obtain this number before the course begins.

Students must be 12 years old to enroll. There is no maximum age, and parents and adults are encouraged to enroll and participate in this course. Cost for each course is $10 per person.

Advanced online registration is required. Register for the course on the Wisconsin DNR Go Wild website. Contact Deputy Michael Baran at the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, telephone number 715-493-0540 for more information on the course.
