Ice Golf on Lake Minocqua on March 7

April 16, 2020

Every year, hundreds of participants gather at Minocqua Yacht Club and The Thirsty Whale to play a round of golf on the ice. This year’s Ice Golf event will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 on Lake Minocqua.

Registration is $20 per person and the event is a 4-person scramble (best ball). The winning teams receive a trophy provided by Bassett Jewelers in Minocqua.

Bring one golf club (tennis balls will be provided), warm clothes for being on the ice all afternoon, and some cash to buy raffle tickets. Many area businesses have donated prizes. BBQ sandwiches (Bad Bones BBQ), brats (TJ's Butcher Block), and pizza (Domino’s) will be provided after the tournament.

All proceeds from the event are donated to four local charities: Lakeland Food Pantry, Wounded Warrior Project, Danielle Gorectke Scholarship, and Howard Young Foundation — Dr. Kate Hospice. In 2018, almost $21,000 was raised.

For questions or to donate, call the Yacht Club at 715-356-1366 or the Thirsty Whale at 715-356-7108. Find the event, Ice Golf 2020, on Facebook.
