Virtual Bear Cupboard Run on June 27

May 29, 2020

The 11th annual Bear Cupboard Run, benefitting the Lakeland Pantry, will take place virtually on Saturday, June 27.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers have decided to make this year’s race a virtual one to avoid a large gathering of people.

On the day of the race, choose a favorite social distancing place that also serves as a favorite running place and record a time for either the 5K or Half Marathon races or the 1 Mile Cubby Run for those ages 9 and younger. Then go to the Performance Timing website, find your name and enter your time. Those who use something like Strava or Garmin Connect can upload the run file so others can see where the run took place and further verifies the results.

This year, more then ever, participation in the event is even more critical. The Lakeland Pantry serves many families in need throughout the year. However, given that many families are struggling with finances due to layoffs or reduced work hours, the need for services like the Lakeland Pantry offers are greater then ever.

Support of the Bear Cupboard Run is an important fundraiser for the Pantry and by going out and running that day, participants will be making a positive contribution to a very critical and important organization.

To register for the race, visit bearcupboardrun.org and click on “virtual race info.” Participants can either sign up online or submit a mail-in form.

T-shirts will be given to those who sign up for them, and will be available for pick up or delivery mid-July. Finisher medals/or participation year pins, will be included with your participation T-shirt. Finisher medals and year pins apply to 1/2 marathon finishers only.
