To the Editor:
Once again this year the Woodruff Council Knights of Columbus have successfully completed our annual Tootsie Roll Drive to help those with intellectual disabilities.
It’s with sincere gratitude that we are sending out this thank you letter to all the wonderful people of the Lakeland area who helped in anyway to help us reach our goal.
We are blessed to have so many people who care and want to help those with disabilities like Down syndrome, epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, autism, and so many more disabilities that prevent them from doing a lot of the things we do and take for granted.
Thank God for the loving families and friends who provide for those whose life’s have many limitations. We also need to thank all those who are special ed teachers, job coaches and special olympics coaches, who put in countless hours to help those with special needs to have a more meaningful life.
This drive would not be possible without the support of Holy Family Church and the following businesses, who permit us to work outside their establishments, Ace Hardware, Paul Bunyan’s Cook Shanty, Save More Market Place, St. Germain Sentry Foods, Trigs and Walmart.
Also, special thanks to Blue Bayou Restaurant and Quality Paint and Body for their generous donations.
It’s also important to point out that without the assistance of our Lakeland area residents who worked many hours in front of stores and churchs, this drive would never be the success that it is.
This huge community act of charity is very pleasing to God who loves people who show love and compassion for those of us who were not as fortunate to be as healthy in mind and body as we are.
Without a doubt, this charity keeps the wheels turning with opportunities for those with special needs.
All of your donations as always are split equally between Special Olympics and Headwaters Inc., two wonderful organizations that cater to those with intellectual disabilities, by providing education, job training, job opportunities, Special Olympic sports like bowling, basketball, swimming, tennis, track, baize ball, and snowshoeing.
The Knights of Columbus sincerely thank each and everyone of you who donated their time and money to help those who can’t always help themselves.
May God bless you all!
