Local veterans thank President Trump

June 30, 2020

To the Editor:

“We must strive to build communities that truly serve, support and protect our veterans from the very first moment they return to civilian life.” — President Trump, Nov. 11, 2019

President Trump is serving us by ensuring our nation fulfills its commitment to all veterans who served with honor and made life altering sacrifices.

President Trump signed the Veterans Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, which allows the V.A. to fire failing employees and put in place safeguards to protect whistleblowers.

In August of 2017 Congress passed and President Trump signed the Veterans Appeals and Modernization Act which simplifies the previously lengthy process veterans had to go through when appealing benefit claims with the V.A.

In June of 2018 President Trump signed the VA Mission Act which provides more choices in veteran’s health care options, whether from V.A. Doctors or the community. Also, telehealth technology was expanded in 2019. This is so needed for veterans living in rural and remote portions of northern Wisconsin.

It has been a few years since we served in the United States military. We are thankful that President Trump and a grateful nation have not forgotten about us.
