Praise for Avanti
September 03, 2019
To the Editor:
Recently our family had to make the difficult decision to place our mother in Extended Care after a major fall. At 98 years of age, it was the last thing we wanted to do.
We were presented with several choices with the assistance of Cheryl from the Social Services Department at Howard Young Medical Center. She advised us to visit each place unannounced to get the best feel for the facility, to help us make a decision.
Our first visit was Avanti Rehab and Health facility in Minocqua. We were warmly greeted upon entry by reception and introduced to Cindy Robinson, NHA, the facility administrator. Cindy was welcoming, reassuring, and forthright in answering our questions. Cindy took us on a tour of the residence and it was impressive. The decor is homey, the atmosphere upbeat, and the grounds peaceful. Everywhere we looked was clean, the food delicious, and the menus varied. Seeing the residents content helped us make the decision to look no further.
Sadly, mom passed away after four days, but during that time she was tenderly cared for by compassionate and skilled staff. They also cared for us, her family, making sure we were kept up to date and had whatever we needed. There are no words to express our gratitude for every kindness shown us during this difficult time.
We would like to thank all the staff of Avanti, from housekeeping to the nursing staff for the exemplary job they do every day caring for our most vulnerable citizens.
