Reader speaks up about Ascension decision

July 24, 2020

To the Editor:

The decision by Ascension Wisconsin to remove helicopter and plane service from the Woodruff locations was wrong on so many fronts. Most notably was the fact that it was made without any efforts to gain inputs about the decision from local governments or health care organizations. Also, their reasoning for the elimination of the helicopter and plane service seems more like a thinly veiled attempt to explain a decision based solely on their bottom line! Decisions like these, when made only out of self interest and with little concern for people they serve, often end up leading to more government regulation of these businesses, as well. Is it too late for Ascension to rethink this decision?
