/ Letters / ‘Streets of Laredo,’ COVID-19 version
To the Editor:
Recently, Laredo, Texas instituted a requirement that everybody within the city limits must wear a face mask when one is in out in public. As a way of getting their message out, I wrote a parody to the melody of “Streets of Laredo” that would be sung as a duet.
As I walked out on the streets of Laredo,
As I walked out on Laredo one day,
I spied a young cowboy all dressed in white linen.
All dressed in white linen as cold as the clay.
(#1) “I see by your outfit, you’re wearing a face mask.”
(#2) “I see by your outfit, you’re wearing one, too.”
(Both) “We see by our outfits we’re both wearing face masks,
If you get a face mask there’s no fine for you.”
