To the Editor:
Kudos to this community in its ongoing effort to raise the funds needed to build a new community center here in the Northwoods. As most of us know, the senior center was destroyed by a fire in 2015.
This will be a great asset to this community to have an intergenerational center. This will be a hub of activity for everyone, as well as focusing on our growing senior population.
Did you know from 2010 to current the senior population has increased in Vilas and Oneida counties by 27%? Seniors are more active than ever and living longer as a result of more activity.
This center will offer:
• Senior meals and operate Meals on Wheels
• Programs for healthy aging
• Social activities
• Pickleball courts
• A meeting place for all.
This new and exciting place will be called “Generations: A Community Gathering Place.” I know this community can pull together to make this a reality. How do I know this? I have witnessed the building of Holy Family Church.
So please support any of the fundraisers you will see.
