Thank you, Bob Egan!

January 03, 2020

To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vilas County Economic Development Corporation (VCEDC) executive director Bob Egan for his years of service to the community. Bob will soon be stepping down from that position and starting a new role as a VCEDC board member. Bob introduced me to the VCEDC when I was first elected to the State Assembly in 2012, and I am honored to have had the chance to work side by side with Bob in our efforts to develop and expand economic opportunities throughout Vilas County. As executive director, Bob always maintained an open-door policy and welcomed input from the community. Bob has been a tireless advocate for expanding broadband throughout the county, ensuring that more homes, schools and businesses have access to high-speed, reliable internet. The VCEDC has also played an integral role in establishing the Vilas County Business Incubators that help support promising start-ups and expanding businesses reach their full potential by offering low-cost work space, equipment and internet access. We have seen the positive impact of the incubators and the success of several entrepreneurial tenants during Bob Egan’s tenure as executive director. I am extremely proud of the progress we have made on the state and local levels to make Vilas County one of the best communities to live, work and raise a family. A large part of that success can be attributed to Bob Egan and his leadership. I am proud to call Bob a friend, and I wish him all the best in his new role as a VCEDC board member.

Rob Swearingen

State Representative

34th Assembly District
