Gary Lee Hiller

Gary Lee Hiller (aka Mr. G), of Hazelhurst, passed away at the age of 73 on Aug. 22, 2019 in Duluth. Gary was born in Port Washington, Wisc., to Ralph and Mildred Hiller on April 16, 1946.

After graduating from high school in Random Lake, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve and served as a radio man in California. He returned home to Wisconsin and moved to Minocqua where he worked in a lumberyard and learned construction. Gary used that knowledge to build his own home and others in the area. He also learned heating and air conditioning and eventually went into business for himself. Gary loved the outdoors — hunting, trapping, fishing, and especially his trips to Canada. He also had a creative side and later in life dedicated many hours to painting landscapes.

Gary is survived by his children; Connie Hiller and Mark Hiller; brothers Bill (Carol) Hiller, Dennis (Sandy) Hiller, and Bob (Tom) Hiller, and sisters Bev (Gary) Cline and Marilyn (Mickey) Sabec. Gary is further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish – Random Lake, 230 Butler St., Random Lake, WI. Deacon Gerry Malueg will preside. Gary’s family will receive visitors at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.

The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
