James Frederick Schmiechen

James Frederick Schmiechen, age 94, born May 13, 1926, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Friday, July 10, 2020. He was the son of Edward and Alma (nee Puls). James served in the United States Army, Company B, 58th Replacement Training Battalion. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 451, Boulder Junction.

Jim and his wife Doris were married June 2, 1945, in Little Flower Catholic Church, in Wauwatosa.  They raised four boys, adopted one girl and fostered many children. The raised their family in Milwaukee until 1973 when they moved to Boulder Junction, and in 1993, to Arbor Vitae. On June 2, 2020, Jim and Doris celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with a siren parade past their residence.

Jim is survived by his wife, Doris (nee Wisniewski), sons Robert Louis (Karen R. nee Grim) and James Allan Schmiechen. He was preceded in death by sons, Martin and John, daughter Mary, and granddaughter Kendra. He is further survived by 12 other grandchildren, many great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday July 17, at 1 p.m. in St. Annes Cemetery, Boulder Junction.

Memorials may be sent to Holy Family Catholic Church or the immediate family.

Funeral arrangements are with Bolger Cremation and Funeral Services of Minocqua and Woodruff.
